This may partly be due to the challenges of homeschooling alongside work and other responsibilities.
Being furloughed undoubtedly comes with its own set of problems, but when you're expected to work efficiently while also homeschooling your kids, it's almost impossible!
A recent poll by Canada Life found that two-fifths of working parents are homeschooling their children during the coronavirus outbreak while holding down a full-time job. On average these parents spend three hours a day – 15 hours a week – homeschooling, with many making up the lost work hours in the evenings after their children have gone to sleep.
